In recent years, Chinese tourists have experienced rapid growth in outbound tourism. From January to September this year, Chinese tourists' outbound travel increased by 21% year-on-year. This is undoubtedly a huge driving force for the recovery of the weak world tourism market.

The World Tourism 2010 Annual Report and the Global Trends report believe that China is an important force driving the entire world's tourism industry out of the bottom.

The report was announced at the 31st World Tourism Exhibition held here. According to the report, in recent years, Chinese tourists have experienced rapid growth in outbound tourism. From January to September this year, Chinese tourists' outbound travel increased by 21% year-on-year. This is undoubtedly a huge driving force for the recovery of the weak world tourism market.

Shao Qiwei, director of the China National Tourism Administration who participated in the exhibition, said that the support of the Chinese government is an important factor. “There are tourists who go out and attract tourists from major source countries to China to form a benign interactive mechanism”.

He said that during the global financial crisis, the Chinese government has never taken any measures to restrict Chinese tourists from traveling abroad. This was highly praised by the countries at the World Tourism Ministers Summit held during the exhibition.

The President of the World Tourism Council, Jean-Claude Baumgarten, said that tourism is one of the important economic pillars and that the Chinese government recognizes the value of tourism. For the world, China has also transmitted an important message: developing tourism and making tourism a point of economic growth, not just a leisure.

At the fair, the Chinese pavilions consisting of 14 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions including Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Shandong and Xinjiang were also very dazzling. The booth is full of Chinese elements and hopes to continue to attract overseas tourists to China by taking advantage of the successful Dongfeng of the Shanghai World Expo.

Shao Qiwei said: "The World Expo will be an important opportunity for the development of China's tourism industry. We will play the 'post-Expo effect', and we believe that the impact of the World Expo on the world and on China's tourism industry will continue."

The World Tourism Exhibition was held in Excel, the largest convention center in London from 8th to 11th. Nearly 50,000 government representatives, industry leaders and media representatives from 90 countries and regions attended the event. (Xinhuanet Kangyi)
